Background:

In our high-tech and highly virtualized world, understanding virtualization is necessary for all Information Technology Professionals. For IT Pro’s that are already smart on VMware, Citrix or other virtualization technologies, it is important for you to broaden the scope of your expertise. It is the right thing to do for your career. It will help you ensure viability of your skills for the coming years. For those that are smart on Windows Server technologies but may not be as strong on Virtualization, now is the time to get smart and start the process of becoming a Virtualization Expert. Those that are late to that are just out of school or late to the virtualization game, GET HOT! Now is a perfect time to allocate a few minutes a day to kick-start your career in the hottest technology in the IT Pro space since the Internet.

The Microsoft virtualization platform has been getting rave reviews since the release of Windows Server 2012 and Hyper-V version 3. We will focus on some of these technologies to help you get up to speed but we will be respectful of other players in the field and help those that already understand those technologies get up to speed quickly by explaining in terms they will likely understand. You can expect these posts to be very positive and looking forward and not beating up the competition in any way. This series is about helping you get up to speed, not tooting the Microsoft horn.

Heterogeneous:

The reality today is that we (IT Professionals) live and work in a heterogeneous environment. As we go through this series, we will help you overcome any challenges you may have in introducing another hypervisor into your organization as well as managing your entire virtualization infrastructure regardless of vendor or technology.
