Windows 7, Windows Server 2008 R2 & Hyper-V 2008 R2 == RTM

What a day! First Expression 3 products become available for download and now, hot off the presses (assuming there still are such things)! Windows 7, Windows Server 2008 R2, and Hyper-V 2008 R2 have hit their milestone called Released To Manufacturing (RTM)! This basically means that all the hard work all the developers have done has reached its zenith and people responsible for overseeing the products have signed-off of the projects, and the code is now going to be mass produced for all to consume.

If you haven’t been following, Windows 7 is the latest edition of the Windows operating system. It has been tested on millions of machines around the world along with old and new applications, old and new device drivers, and old and new computer systems.

Will it be 100% error free? No, but no operating system or application is. One of my programming instructors use to say the only error free system is the one that’s no longer being used.

There are a number of articles out on the Net talking about how Win7 RTM bits will be rolled out the OEMs (Original Equipment Manufacturers) and eventually the retail channels, as well as how the product will be packaged. As soon as I find a list of articles I like and that make sense, I’ll post links to them.

I’d like to give a shout-out to the Windows development teams. Awesome job! Congratulations on reaching this milestone!

Excelsior!
