Is your Windows machine ready for World IPv6 Day?

We are just a week away from World IPv6 day. On June 8, 2011, a host of technology companies with participate. By participating, they will enable their websites to be accesible using both IPv4 and IPv6.

What does that mean to you? Probably nothing if you are on newer Operating Systems that support IPv6 along with your home network/office network and/or ISP supports IPv6. If you can’t use IPv6, your computer should correctly continue using IPv4 to access the website that is enabled for both.

The only thing that can stop you is misconfigurations. You can go to https://blogs.technet.com/b/ipv6/archive/2011/05/20/ipv6-day.aspx and scroll down to “IPv6 Connectivity Analysis” to see if your computer is ready. You can also read more about World IPv6 Day and Windows there.

If the Connectivity Analysis on the page above is not successful for you, you can resolve it by following steps outlined in https://support.microsoft.com/kb/2533454/.

And finally, if you don’t know much about IPv6 but would like to get started, you can go to Microsoft’s IPv6 page which has wealth of resources to get you started.
