Visual Studio 11 and the Power of ALM

It’s no surprise that I’m a big proponent of Microsoft’s Application Lifecycle Management (ALM) toolset which means that I’m always on the lookout for great content be it video, podcasts, hands on labs, virtual machines, etc. Therefore when I came across Cameron Skinner, general manager of Visual Studio Ultimate talking about the exciting new features in the Visual Studio 11 Dev Preview I just had to mention it. The best part about this video is that it’s under 5 minutes in length so there’s no need for a huge time commitment yet it outlines a number of items, particularly those that deal with ALM tools such as the requirements storyboarding tool (used in conjunction with PowerPoint), managing the product backlog through a web portal via Team Foundation Server (TFS) and a new feature called “MyWork” which helps developers quickly switch tasks/contexts easily thus enabling high productivity.

There’s also no shortage of content on Cameron’s blog so if you wake up in the morning and Visual Studio is already loaded on your PC then you should definitely check it out. And while we’re knee-deep in ALM, Brian Harry’s blog is the resource when it comes to ALM, TFS and VS.
