It's too bad that it was only released as a Virtual PC image. I think this is a mistake because it limits the scope of those willing to take a look at the CTP. I would like to have tried it out, but I don't want to take all the extra the time to set up Virtual PC first. - Anonymous

I agree that it would be nice to have as a seperate download. But having said that, I would just end up putting it in a VPC anyway because I don't want to mess up my desktop build with CTP software.There really is nothing to setup once you've downloaded the VPC, apart from installing MS Virtual PC which takes a few mintues at most.Did I miss the point you were trying to make? :) - Anonymous

I'm not sure what you mean. I was just simply stating that I'd prefer to be able to simply install the CTP on my curent system rather than installing Virtual PC to host the image. Installing directly is faster and more straight-forward. Am I missing something here? - Anonymous

VPC's are nice ifa) you already have a host set up to handle themb) you just want to have a quick play around with it to see what it can do.That being said, they are not all that useful if you want to actually use the application in anger say to test its usefulness or to develop something for use in the real world.You dont have access to your installed applications, network and system settings available from within the VPC and that, for me, makes development within the VPC pretty useless and not all that exciting a prospect.I notice that you guys at microsoft use Base Images with you VPCs? (I'm not going to pretend I know how this even works: but on the surface they appear pretty cool) I wonder if I can set my normal development environment up as my own personal 'base' VPC and then merge the downlaoded VPC with it to give me the best of both worlds? Looks like I need to look into VPCs a bit more...
