Any news on whether it includes the security patch ".NET Framework 1.1 SP1"? The standalone patch still fails to install, trying to dereference a null pointer during its own installation. Any number of attempts can be made, and they queue up automatic reports to Microsoft. They delay sending those reports though, finally offering to send them AFTER THE NEXT REBOOT OF WINDOWS SERVER 2003. I wonder if the OS's SP1 RC1 includes the same patch. (I also wonder whether the SP1 RC1 install itself or will it also try to dereference a null pointer during installation, but I guess I'll find that out on the weekend.)

I don't know how to detect if it includes .NET Framework 1.1 SP1, but it does diagnose itself as failing two other security issues.

Nonetheless it does seem better than the unpatched Windows Server 2003, which in turn was better than Windows Server 2003 with the previous beta of W2003 SP1. By the way RC1 detected that the previous beta's uninstaller left behind garbage that interfered with RC1, a known problem for which the second suggested solution worked.
