Office 12: First Look at 'Forms Server' Technology

Last week at the Microsoft Worldwide Partner Conference, Chris Capossela demonstrated a Forms Server technology designed to make XML forms available through the web browser.  Information Week reports that:

In what he termed the first public viewing of Office 12, Chris Capossela, corporate vice president of Microsoft's Information Worker Product Management Group, showed off a distributed forms capability that would enable customers to fill in and submit XML forms easily via a browser, without having to run Microsoft InfoPath on their PC.

Bill Gates and Steven Sinofsky first let slip on this vision for InfoPath back in Feb during a QnA session at the Office Developer Conference.  At the time Gates discussed a vision for InfoPath where it supports a rich set of controls on top of the Avalon runtime but with the ability to project onto classic HTML.
