Site Placement Deprecation
We’ve started Spring Cleaning early this year, and want to let you know that Site Placements are one of those dusty relics we’re in the process of removing. We will automatically remove existing Site Placement ad groups and eliminate the option to create more Site Placements. If you are an advertiser whose Ad Groups still have Site Placements, rest assured that their removal will have no impact on your impressions, clicks, or spend.
After the site placement ad groups in your account have been removed from Bing Ads, new errors will be thrown for the following operations:
- If you try to add or update an AdGroup with BiddingModel set to SitePlacement via AddAdGroups or UpdateAdGroups, the operation will return the CampaignServiceInvalidBiddingModel or CampaignServiceCannotUpdateBiddingModel error respectively.
- The GetAdGroupsByCampaignId operation will no longer return site placement ad groups, since they will have been deleted. The operation will continue to return ad groups that use the keyword bidding model.
- If you try to retrieve a deleted site placement AdGroup via GetAdGroupsByIds, the operation will return the CampaignServiceInvalidAdGroupId error. The experience will be no different than when you specify any invalid ad group ID.
- If you try to add, update, retrieve, or delete a SitePlacement via AddSitePlacements, DeleteSitePlacements, GetSitePlacementsByAdGroupId, GetSitePlacementsByIds, UpdateSitePlacements, or GetPlacementDetailsForUrls, the operation will return the CampaignServiceSitePlacementOperationNotAllowedForPilot error.
This cleanup will complete our changes to content ads, which we announced last summer as part of Bing Ads’ continued effort to afford the highest quality of traffic to your ads while growing supply.
