New Licensing Exam 74-678

A new exam and certification for Licensing Specialists has been released in 11 languages on Sept 4, 2014. This exam, 74-678: Designing and Providing Microsoft Volume Licensing Solutions to Large Organizations is based on the latest version of our Licensing programs and Product/Cloud Services Licensing features and covers the same scope as current exam 70-672, which will be retired in January 2015.

You can take this new Exam 74-678 through the Prometric and Pearson/Vue test centers starting Sept 4, 2014. The cost to take the exam will be AUD$206.

Effective on the date of its release, this new exam will be added to the list of exams currently counting towards the Volume Licensing Competency (silver and gold) as well as the SAM competency (gold only). The MPN Competency web site will reflect that this change around September 30th 2014.

Note there is no plan to update/replace exam 70-671, which is focused on licensing for Small and Medium size organizations. You’re encouraged to use www.getlicensingready.com to learn and test your licensing knowledge for small and medium organizations.

If you have any individuals in your organisation about to undertake their Volume Licensing MCP, I strongly recommend that you encourage them to focus on the new exam instead of the legacy one.

    Hi, We have the Gold competency in Volume Licensing ( 4 x MCP 070-671), Could you tell me if we have to take the new exam 74-678 to keep our volume licensing competency even if we are not a LAR ? regards,   sandrine

    Hi Sandrine, For the most up to date Competency requirements I recommend visiting the partner portal.  The current (as of November 6) Gold Competency Exam requirements for Gold Volume Licensing currently state Four unique individuals each must pass one of the following: Exam 70-671: Designing and Providing Microsoft Volume Licensing Solutions to Small and Medium Organizations (Will not be available after Jan 2015) Exam 70-672: Designing and Providing Microsoft Volume Licensing Solutions to Large Organizations (Will not be available after Jan 2015) Exam 74-678: Designing and Providing Microsoft Volume Licensing Solutions to Large Organizations (New optional exam now available) It is always good to stay current with exams so I would strongly recommend sitting the new 74-678 Exam.     Hi, Sara! The web site you had mentioned is the only test site. Many years ago there were several webinars, which could be found easyly at partner.microsoft.com. But now there is no such information. Or not? Did such webinars were prepared?
