Program Manager

MSN Communications Client team is providing the next generation of client-side code for Instant Messaging, E-mail, File Sharing as well as Voice and Video, in MSN Messenger and Outlook Express, under Windows XP and Longhorn. We’re building a platform that allows internal developers and 3rd parties to develop games and activities for MSN Messenger. We’re taking E-mail to a new level with powerful search, RSS, spam filtering and creative ways to send photos. We’re building the future of internet file sharing: your files can be everywhere and accessible anytime you need them. We’re enabling users to communicate with friends and family using voice and video over the Internet.

We are looking for Program Managers to help make these goals a reality. Qualified applicants should have solid background shipping software, the ability to write clear and detailed functional specifications, and a proven ability to work with Planning, Design, Dev, and Test to solve tough problems with creative solutions. Program Manager

The Microsoft Technology Care & Services (TCS) team has the charter to set and drive strategic vision, a company wide roadmap, industry engagement, and technology efforts in the area of online safety for Microsoft and MSN. Every business in Microsoft depends on consumers having confidence in consuming technology. The negative impact on consumers is huge and has a very real trickle down effect to our businesses. You will also be responsible for evaluating, prioritizing and helping to productize new innovations by Microsoft Research in the underlying technology.

Responsibilities include working with internal and external partners and defining the latest and greatest safety technologies. Daily tasks include gathering and prioritizing requirements, writing specifications, driving design decisions, refining milestones, driving schedules and cross-team collaboration. You will also own and drive customer focus and requirements into our products.

An ideal candidate will have 3-5 years of program management experience and proven track record for shipping products in the technology industry. Experience shipping a consumer based software application through the full produce life cycle is desired. Knowledge and experience with web services, email technology & protocols, networking protocols, or crypto-protocols, are all beneficial.

Experience in cross-team interactions and customer-focused experience is strongly preferred. A background in advanced computer science, machine learning or statistics is an asset, but is not required. BA/BS degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent experience is required.

Software Development Engineer (SDE)

 

As a Software Development Engineer, you will be responsible for designing and implementing the changes needed in the File Replication System (FRS) to support the peer-to-peer and peer-to-sky sharing scenarios in messenger. In particular, this will involve changing the existing FRS transport and security mechanisms, packaging FRS for delivery as part of messenger, and designing and implementing the changes required to efficiently run FRS as part of a service.

This candidate should possess excellent C++ programming skills and the ability to understand and work with complex distributed systems. A BS in Computer Science is required (higher preferred).

Software Development Engineer (SDE)

The MSN Hotmail Development team is seeking smart, dedicated engineers to help build the next generation of MSN Hotmail and Calendar services. In this position, you’ll build massively-scaled web applications to deliver communication services in multiple languages/cultures to hundreds of millions of people throughout the world. You’ll use cutting edge development tools and technologies, and you’ll work with a fun, talented team of engineers.

Primary responsibilities include designing and developing software components and tools as well as modifying existing code to support new features and bug fixes. Successful candidates will work closely with Program Management to ensure solid specifications and with Test to ensure high quality and stability of the product throughout the development cycle. The ideal candidate has experience designing and implementing features in commercial products, possesses a solid understanding of the software engineering lifecycle, and has a passion for technology and a desire to learn.

Solid coding skills in C++ or C# and an understanding of object-oriented programming concepts is required. Experience with server products, distributed systems, internet security and modern web technologies (e.g., HTML, XML, CSS, SOAP) is desirable. Software Design Engineer

Software Design Engineer

Software Development Engineer in Test (SDE/T)

We have a new team who are responsible for delivering a very exciting and innovative storage solution for the Internet. This is an exciting V1 project and you have the opportunity to be in from the beginning. We are searching for a senior SDET who can leverage their technical leadership and passion to help us build the next generation of storage services for MSN.

Primary responsibilities work closely other senior SDETs and SDEs who are tightly integrated into the development process and leverage aspects of Agile and Test Driven Development on an emerging technology. You will be developing test automation and models to exercise a massive File Replication Service.

Qualified candidates should be experienced with product development processes, Microsoft test methodologies, tools development, and the quality requirements of developer software. Candidate is expected to work effectively in cross-organization situations and be driving towards integration-oriented solutions. In addition, a successful candidate will have highly effective written and oral communication skills; excellent organizational and project management skills; very good technical knowledge including test design and development; and proficiency in C/C++/C#. Software Development Engineer in Test (SDE/T)

If you love a challenge and love to ship products used by millions of people then the MSN Communications Client (MCC) Test Team is the place where you can help change the world. The MCC test team is looking for a Software Design Engineer in Test (SDET) to help this team deliver the next generation of messenger and mail clients. Responsibilities include: designing and implementing test plans, test cases, test automation suites, and any required tools and utilities. Your responsibilities will also include the end-to-end testing of your assigned feature. Furthermore, you will be intricately involved throughout the product’s lifecycle from the early planning stages to well after the product has been released to the general public. Working closely with developers and program managers on a day-to-day basis, you’ll be helping to define and verify the architecture and key features that will deliver a top-quality product to our customers.

The successful candidate will have outstanding coding and debugging skills in C/C++/C# as well as proficiency with XML. You should be skilled at defining and writing test design specifications and developing functional as well as performance/stress test cases at the UI and/or API levels. Familiarity with COM and .NET technologies is a definite plus. In addition, a working knowledge of application/transport protocols such as HTTP, POP3, IMAP, SMTP, XMTP, RSS, TCP, UDP and SOAP are also highly desirable.

A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related discipline along with at least 3 years of relevant experience is required. You must have successfully completed at least one full shipping cycle for a commercial product in order to qualify.

Software Design Engineer in Test (SDE/T)

Candidates must have a strong programming background in either C/C++ or C#. Knowledge and experience with SQL, web services, email technology & protocols, networking protocols, or crypto-protocols, are all beneficial.
