System Update Readiness Tool for Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2 now does more in-depth repair of .NET Framework 2.0

Updated versions of the System Update Readiness Tool were released last week. The new versions of this tool for Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2 contain improved functionality for repairing issues related to the version of the .NET Framework 2.0 that ships as a part of those versions of Windows. If you are running Windows 7 or Windows Server 2008 R2 and have problems while trying to run .NET Framework 2.0-based applications, cannot install .NET Framework updates, or see errors when you run the .NET Framework setup verification tool, I encourage you to try out the updated version of the System Update Readiness Tool to see if it will help resolve the problems.

Note – as described in this blog post, the System Update Readiness Tool is included as a part of the OS on Windows 8, Windows 8.1 and Windows Server 2012. If you run into .NET Framework issues on those versions of Windows, you do not need to download a separate tool to repair Windows components like the .NET Framework.
