SQL Server Data Tools – Business Intelligence (SSDT BI) for SQL Server 2014 CTP1

In this pre-release version of SQL Server 2014, SSDT BI is no longer included in setup. For SQL Server 2014 CTP1 no new version of SSDT BI been released, however you can use the existing version of SSDT BI to create and deploy projects for SQL Server 2014 CTP1.

The Visual Studio 2012 version of SSDT BI can be download from Microsoft Download Center. This same link is also provided in the Tools section of SQL Server 2014 CTP1 setup.

Please note the following while installing SSDT BI:

· SSDT BI cannot be installed on the same machine as SQL Server 2014 CTP1.

· To deploy to a SQL Server 2014 CTP1 Server, install SSDT-BI on different machine.

    I hope that in the final version of SQL Server 2014 it will be possible to have SQL Server 2014 and SSDT BI on the same machine. I am a software developer and want to test my database design on my development machine.

    This limitation is only for SQL Server 2014 CTP1 bits. In final version of SQL Server 2014, it will be possible to have both SSDT BI and SQL Server 2014 on same machine.

    Is this limitation, SQL Server 2014 and SSDT installation not supported on same machine, still valid for CTP2?Is this related with above? Or directly related with x64 or x86 architectures?My setup fails at:Checks whether the installing feature(s) are the same CPU architecture as the specified instance.  Failed The CPU architecture of installing feature(s) is different than the instance specified. To continue, add features to this instance with the same architecture.
