Fix for PowerPivot Expiration Released

The PowerPivot team is pleased to report that the fix for the November CTP expiration issue has been released. We know many of you have been eagerly awaiting this fix since last week when the PowerPivot for Excel add-in expired. We do sincerely apologize for the inconvenience this may have caused you.

We have released a new version of the November CTP for the PowerPivot for Excel add-in. This new version is functionally identical to the old one except that it extends the expiration date to end of the year. You can download it from the same locations as in the past:

Please note that the new version will take some time to replicate across all servers in the Microsoft download center. If you download it from the above links and still get the expiration error message, then try again periodically. It might also help to clear any browser/download caches on your computer.

I still see that the timestamp on the available download is 11/1/2009 not the more recent 4/5/2010. When I install this it still says powerpivot beta is expired. Can you post the correct version or let me know what I am doing wrong? I uninstalled and reinstalled twice. Thanks! :(

Can you try clearing your browser cache (ToolsInternet Options) in IE? Also navigate to the following folder and clear it explicitly...C:UsersUSERNAMEAppDataLocalMicrosoftWindowsTemporary Internet Files

One more thing. If you are downloading a non-English version from the Download Center, can you try switching the language to English and try?

Hi TK AnandThanks for updating the software.  I will leave some notes which may help other people.1) When I saw the "beta expired" message last week, I thought that my MS Office 2010 Beta had expired (since it did not say what beta).  So in my case, I uninstalled and reinstalled MS Office 2010 beta.2) When it came time to download, I was refreshing two installations.  I downloaded and installed the first one fine (today, April 8, 2010).  And then the second one would not update.3) Following the notes here, I assume that by some freak chance I had a good first copy but old second copy.  So I uninstalled the second copy again, and did a new download.  The new download worked. It would have helped to have a different filename to clarify the versions.  However, even if the filename had to be the same, then it would be good to say the number of expected bytes.  My 32-bit English version was 41,231,360 bytes.

Hello...me again! So it seems the download was successful, thanks Luk! However, I have a question about previous workbooks created with PowerPivot and published to Excel Services 2010. Seems that the connection to the Sanbox has been lost. Any ideas on how to restore the connection. This is the error I am getting now:An error occurred during an attempt to establish a connection to the external data source. The following connections failed to refresh: SandboxDo I have to reinstal PowerPivot for SharePoint also? Thanks!
