Live.com and OPML

New feature (among others) on Live.com:

"- OPML
Request: can I export my rss feeds that I’ve subscribed to on live.com in OPML format?

You can now do this: click on add stuff -> ‘advanced options’"

This may not seem like a big deal, but I think this is significant in its own little way. You see, most RSS readers / aggregators allow you to export your subscriptions (and not just import them) as OPML.

Up until now, Live.com was the only one I knew of that didn't have the export function. That was a deal-breaker for me. That's changed today. I like it :-)

Remember folks - it's YOUR data.

This is one good step but when will Windows/MSN(?) Live Contacts support microformats and better still support Live Clipboard so that I can exchange "My" personal data easily with others?

Equally will Microsoft store Infocard data in a hCard format? I would bet not. I guess the best we can hope for is import/export of data via the Live Clipbook.

Sam - Re: Windows/MSN(?) Live Contacts support for microformats: the team is aware of the format but as of today there is no public plan of record that includes microformats.

re: support for Live Clipboard in Live Contacts and Infocard: i don't know. You're best asking Kim Cameron http://www.identityblog.com/ for Infocards.

I was just searching the internet for a reason why this support was dropped, and I happened upon this post. I remember start.com had it, and I thought Live.com had it too for a bit.

I've built quite a bit of RSS on the Live.com platform, and when I went to export it recently to share with some coworkers interested in the same subject matter, I was suprised to find out it wasn't there.

So I was getting ready to abandon Live.com, I am glad I don't have to now.

    Thanks Alex!
