Dear Azure AI Support Team,

My name is Mohamad Taleb from Austing IT (https://www.austing-it.de/)

I hope you can assist me with an issue I'm facing regarding authentication and role assignments for my Azure OpenAI service.

Issue: I have been trying to configure an Azure OpenAI setup using a managed identity to access multiple Azure services (Azure OpenAI, Azure Search, and Azure Blob Storage). I have assigned the appropriate roles, including:

Cognitive Services OpenAI Contributor

Search Index Data Reader

Search Service Contributor

Storage Blob Data Contributor

However, I continue to receive the following error message:

“Failed to validate the selected authentication type” when attempting to access the relevant resources.

Details:

The managed identity has been created correctly, and the roles appear to be properly assigned.

The role assignments include the necessary permissions for Azure Blob Storage and Azure Search to manage the index and data.

I have reviewed the IAM page of my resource group chatbot setup ("ChatBot_Test_MN"), and the roles seem to be correctly assigned.

Additionally, when checking access, I sometimes encounter an error in the Azure portal: "An error occurred. Please try again later."

I am unsure whether this is a configuration issue or if there are additional steps required to successfully complete the authentication.

If I want to create chatbot so I was adding the data and then I have to select System assigned managed identity or API key. So When I select System assigned managed I get "Failed to validate the selected authentication type. Please resolve the following errors and click next" so based on that I can not create chatbot.

I kindly request your help in identifying and resolving this issue. Please feel free to contact me via email or phone for further details. If a call with a technician is required, I would appreciate arranging a meeting to review my configuration.

Best regards
Mohamad Taleb
