Create your first agent
To create agents, first install the Microsoft Copilot Studio app in Microsoft Teams. Microsoft Copilot Studio allows you to:
Create and edit agents.
Test the agent to see how well it works.
Publish the agent to your team or organization.
Review the agent's performance over time, note the questions that are asked, and assess how well it's answering questions.
To install Microsoft Copilot Studio for Teams:
Open Teams and then select Apps from the left navigation bar.
Enter "copilot" in the search box and then select Microsoft Copilot Studio from the search results to install the Microsoft Copilot Studio app in Teams.
Note
If you don't see Microsoft Copilot Studio in the results, your tenant/version of Teams might not yet be updated; instead search for and select Power Virtual Agents. When you open Power Virtual Agents, the display will show Microsoft Copilot Studio.
Create a new agent
To create a new agent, follow these steps:
Open the Microsoft Copilot Studio for Teams app.
Select Start now under "Create an agent".
Select the team to own and manage your agent from the drop-down list and then select Continue.
When you're creating a new agent, team owners and the agent creator have read/write access by default. Team members only have read access to the agent.
If this is your first time creating an agent or Power Apps application in the team, you'll receive a notification that the process will be slightly longer than usual while the system sets up. Select Close to continue and then wait a few minutes for Teams to notify you that the agent is ready. The notification that it's set up and ready appears in Activity. Once you see it, select the message, then select Next to continue.
Provide an Agent name and select the Language for the agent to speak. For this example, use
Event Contacts
for the name. You can also select an optional icon.Note
After you have set the agent's language, it can't be changed.
Select Create to complete creating a new agent.
From the Microsoft Copilot Studio editor, you can manage topics, edit and test your agent, and then publish it to the rest of the team or the entire organization. Topics are how agent conversations transpire and they're covered in the next section.
Create agents in Microsoft 365 Business Chat
Along with creating agents in Microsoft Teams, makers now have the ability to create their own custom agents in Microsoft 365 Business Chat. This process has made agent creation easier and faster than before, allowing makers to stick to the comfort of an app and interface they know well—Microsoft 365 Business chat.
Without writing any code, makers can navigate to Microsoft 365 Business Chat and from the Copilot pane on the right-hand side, select Create an agent to create a custom agent through a conversational language experience.
This opens the Copilot Studio conversational authoring experience, you can start by using one of the many templates, or making the agent your own by discussing the goals you'd like the agent to achieve in the chat pane. After Describing and Configuring, the agent is ready to be used in the Microsoft 365 Copilot Chat experience and can be further customized in Copilot Studio.
With just a few clicks, users can create, share, and customize their Copilot agents. For example, you can connect to other knowledge sources to pinpoint the information Copilot should use to generate responses and take action.
Users can share their Copilot agents with other employees, and admins can use security governance controls within Copilot Studio, Power Platform, and Microsoft 365 to ensure business data is kept within their business.
