In Master Data Manager, move members within a hierarchy to change their location or parent assignment.
Prerequisites
To perform this procedure:
You must have permission to access the Explorer functional area.
You must have a minimum of Update permission to the hierarchy.
A hierarchy must exist. For more information, see How to: Create a Derived Hierarchy (Master Data Services) or How to: Create an Explicit Hierarchy (Master Data Services).
To move members within a hierarchy
On the Master Data Manager home page, from the Model list, select a model.
From the Version list, select a version.
Click Explorer.
From the menu bar, point to Hierarchies and click hierarchy_name.
In the Hierarchy pane, where the hierarchy is displayed in a tree structure, click the check box for each member you want to move.
In the Clipboard pane, click Copy to clipboard.
In the Hierarchy pane, click the name of member you want to move the members to. The text of the member becomes bold and grey.
Note
Selecting the check box has no affect. You must click the member name or code.
In the Clipboard pane, click Paste as child or Paste as sibling.
In the confirmation dialog box, click OK.
Note
In derived hierarchies, you can move members to parents at the same level only. Also, you cannot change the sort order of members.
