Manage Versions Page (Master Data Manager)

Use the Manage Versions page to manage versions and their properties.

Control

Model

Select a model to display all associated versions in the grid. Only models for which you are a model administrator are displayed.

Buttons

Button Name

Description

Copy selected version

Creates a new version of the model and its master data, based on the existing version.

NoteNote
Only data is copied. Metadata and business rules apply to all versions.

Lock selected version

Changes a version with the status of Open to Locked. Once locked, only users with Update permissions for the entire model can make changes.

NoteNote
Before a version can be committed, it must be locked.

Unlock selected version

Changes a version with the status of Locked to Open.

View version ancestry

Opens the Version Ancestry page, from which you can view all versions that were copied to create the selected version.

Grid Columns

Column Name

Description

Version Number

Displays the automatically generated identifier for the version. Version numbers start with 1 and are incremented by 1 each time they are copied.

Name

Specify the name of the version. This name must be unique within the model.

Description

Optional value. Specify a description for the version.

Status

Displays the status of the version. Possible values are:

  • Open: All users with permission can make changes

  • Locked: Only users with Update access to the entire model can make changes

  • Committed: Changes are no longer allowed

Flag

Optional value. Specify a flag to assign to the version.

NoteNote
If you specify a flag that is already assigned to another version, the flag will be removed from the other version.

Validation

Displays the validation status of the version. Possible values are:

  • Validated: All members are valid

  • Not validated: One or more members are not valid

Copied From

Displays the version name and number from which this version was originally copied.

Last Changed Date

Displays the date and time that the version's properties were last updated.
