Remove-FASTSearchMetadataFullTextIndex
Applies to: SharePoint Server 2010
Removes a full text index from the Microsoft FAST Search Server 2010 for SharePoint system.
Syntax
Remove-FASTSearchMetadataFullTextIndex -FullTextIndex <FullTextIndex> [-Confirm [<SwitchParameter>]] [-Force <SwitchParameter>] [-WhatIf [<SwitchParameter>]]
Remove-FASTSearchMetadataFullTextIndex -Name <String> [-Confirm [<SwitchParameter>]] [-Force <SwitchParameter>] [-WhatIf [<SwitchParameter>]]
Detailed Description
This cmdlet removes a full text index. The content of the index is removed and is no longer searchable. The managed properties mapped to the full text index are still available and can be mapped to other or new full text indexes.
This cmdlet contains more than one parameter set. You may only use parameters from one parameter set, and you may not combine parameters from different parameter sets. When doing simple operations, there is no difference between using the FullTextIndex versus the Name parameter. The only difference is when using the Name parameter you look up the full text index each time, while when using the FullTextIndex parameter you use the object you already have a reference to. However, when dealing with operations involving a large set of objects (for example iterating over all categories), avoiding extra lookups by name can be slightly more efficient. For more information about how to use parameter sets, see Cmdlet Parameter Sets.
Note
Do not delete and re-create a full text index with the same name but a different configuration. The re-created full text index will initially contain all items that were indexed in this full text index prior to deletion. The items that no longer belong in the full text index will appear in query results until the items are updated or deleted.
