Users who are enabled for Microsoft Office Communications Server 2007 R2 can use mobile devices and Microsoft Office Communicator Mobile. Office Communicator Mobile is a unified communications (UC) client that runs on Microsoft Windows Mobile 6.0 or Windows Mobile 6.1 software for Pocket PC and smartphone devices. Communicator Mobile integrates instant messaging (IM) and presence, as well as telephony.

Microsoft Office Communicator Mobile for Nokia 2.0 is a new messaging client built on the Nokia Symbian^3 platform. Microsoft Office Communicator Mobile for Nokia 1.0 is a messaging client built on the Nokia S60 3.2.3 platform. When Office Communicator Mobile for Nokia 2.0 or Office Communicator Mobile for Nokia 1.0 is deployed with Office Communications Server 2007 R2, it enables mobile phones to function as UC endpoints, providing IM, presence, and telephony to create a familiar experience for users of Microsoft Office Communicator.

Microsoft Office Communicator Mobile for Java is a new enterprise messaging client built on the Java Platform Micro Edition. When deployed with Communications Server 2007 R2, Office Communicator Mobile for Java enables several mobile phones that are otherwise not supported by native clients but have the capability to run Java applications to function as UC endpoints and provide IM, presence, and telephony.

To enable the enterprise messaging features, you must deploy specific servers, client software, and gateways to ensure correct operation. This section identifies the primary component requirements that are necessary to support Communicator Mobile for Windows Mobile and Communicator Mobile for Java in an Office Communications Server 2007 R2 deployment.

This section also describes the component requirements for Outside Voice Control to support the Communicator Mobile Single Number Reach feature.
