Delete deviceTemplate

Delete a registered deviceTemplate. You must first delete all devices linked to the template before deleting the template itself. Only registered owners of the template can perform this operation.
This API is available in the following national cloud deployments.

Important
In delegated scenarios with work or school accounts, the signed-in user must be assigned a supported Microsoft Entra role or a custom role with a supported role permission. The following least privileged roles are supported for this operation:
- Cloud Device Administrator
- IoT Device Administrator
- Users - owners of the device template object

Note: The
{id}
in the request URL is the value of the id property of the deviceTemplate.

Request body
Don't supply a request body for this method.
Response
If successful, this method returns a 204 No Content
response code. It doesn't return anything in the response body. Device templates can't be deleted until all linked devices are removed; otherwise, this method returns a 400 Bad Request
response code. If the caller isn't the owner of the device template, this method returns a 403 Forbidden
response code that indicates that the caller isn't authorized to delete this template.
