Rapid Application Development Tool Visual Studio LightSwitch Coming July 26

Visual Studio LightSwitch 2011 tool for cloud and desktop development is coming July 26. The tool is a rapid-application-development (RAD) tool for building business applications.

ISVs use LightSwitch to build out proof of concepts, and add value to LightSwitch by providing custom templates that support interfaces to their software. Use LightSwitch for building line-of-business (LOB) applications can be targeted to Windows Azure and SQL Azure.

Visual Studio LightSwitch includes a lot of pre-built components for the most common business application tasks; however, there will be times when you will want more custom functionality. LightSwitch applications are flexible enough to support extensions for templates, data sources, shells, themes, business data types and custom controls. ISVs provide extensions or you can develop them yourself using Visual Studio Professional, Premium or Ultimate.

You can write custom code in Visual Basic .NET or C#. You can deploy to the desktop, browser, or cloud to share your application with others more easily without the cumbersome installation processes.
