Forget windowsupdate!

I was surfing the internet and I bumped into an article about saying to forget Windowsupdate https://update.microsoft.com/windowsupdate/v6/default.aspx

In short: the website explains that windowsupdate only updates Windows related stuff and not other programs like Word and Outlook for example. Microsoft Update is the site to go to from now on if you would ask me. The site will do a check not only on Windows updates but also can update other products.

I must admit that I didn't knew that this site excisted. I have used it now and it is something I would recommend.

    I agree windows update does handle a lot of other thing there it will do office it you tell it to search for other MS products. However the Windows update has been really bad lately. The v4 of windows update still works and is usually the first site you hit after installing a new server or computer. You eventually get bounced around to v6 after some other upgrades and thats when everything falls apart. v6 is so picky and you get a lot of wierd errors. You get wierd errors like time is not sinced up, yet the clock is set on the pc or server fine, wierd though why you have to make sure the clock is set properly before you can update windows usually when bringing up a new PC the clock is the last thing I am worried about, typically it patching it and getting it up to date. Other wierd crash errors. Also the other problem you have doing other windows updates is that a lot of them require you put in the original CD. So now doing an unattended windows update is not really feasable since it prompts you for CD.
