WpfPerf tools now available as a msi
A couple of weeks ago I had posted an entry about the WPF perf tools being part of the SDK.. One of the readers asked for a separate installable since the SDK is huge and downloading the SDK just for the perf tools really didnt make sense... So we listened, and the WPF perf tools are now available as a separate installable ..
Download: x86 and x64 versions

I installed the 32 bit MSI on my XP machine and WPFPerf crashes on startup. Do I need .Net 3.5 to run it?Anonymous

Steve, the wpfperf site has this entry: "Important: Before installing the performance suite, be sure to remove older versions of WPFPerf.exe."Anonymous

Yes, but since previous version of WPFPerf was installed as part of the Windows SDK, how are we supposed to remove it? Is the idea that we just delete the WPFPerf.exe executable from C:Program FilesMicrosoft SDKsWindowsv6.0Bin ? (I'm a little reluctant to do that, because that alone doesn't seem likely to solve the crash, and if the new version still crashes, this then leaves me without any version of WPFPerf...) Or is this a cryptic way of saying that we need to remove the Vista release build of the Windows SDK before we can install the standalone version of WPFPerf.exe?Anonymous

A possible workaround is to rename the wpfperf binaries and then install the msi...Anonymous
