Around the world, customers who buy a phone today will be able to access nearly 2000 Windows Phone 7 applications and games from developers like you. Get the latest tools
Two weeks ago we released an update to the Windows Phone 7 Developer tools available here. The update provides:

  • A new Bing Maps Control that improves map performance during user gestures
  • The Capability Detection Tool, which scans your application and reports on detected phone capabilities that will be applied during ingestion to marketplace.
  • The WP Connect Tool, with which you can create a connection between the Windows Phone and your PC without requiring Zune to be running, so you can debug media APIs.

The update requires that you have the Windows Phone Developer Tools installed and that language/locale of the update and developer tools match. Be sure to use this new updated toolset to when submitting your apps to Marketplace

On November 2nd, Microsoft announced a new partnership with PreEmptive Solutions to offer a free trial of Runtime Intelligence for Windows Phone. This application analytics solution offers a variety of insights into real-world usage of your applications and answers questions like "how often is my app run," "what features in my application are the most popular," or "how many users have installed my app?"

    Thanks for you excellent talk about JQuery ($) in the Livermore this evening first. Also, a question. I just want a phone with Windows phone 7 operating system, so that I can write apps programs on it. I do not want any phone plan from AT&T or other companies. Do you have any ideas about how to get thus phone?

    As a starting point, you can download the free tool to start the WP7 development on an emulator first.  The emulator is part of the tool.   Here is the link to download the free tool www.microsoft.com/.../details.aspx Have fun!

    Thanks for your reply. I have already download and play it. But my apps needs the camera function, so I have to use a real phone. If you know where I can get a phone with Windows Phone 7 operating system, please let me know.
